Ingredients :
- Avalakki / poha / Thick rice flakes - 1 cup
- Tamarind - 1 lemon size
- Rasam Powder - 2 tsp
- Turmeric - 1/4 tsp
- Jaggery - 4 tsp
- Asafoetida - 1/4 teaspoon
- Salt to taste
- Grated coconut - 1/2 cup
- Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
- Oil - 1 tsp
- Curry leaves
- Pea nuts
- Bengal Gram - 1/4 tsp
- Split Black Gram - 1/4 tsp
- Red Chillies - 3
- Pinch of asafoetida
Method :
- Add avalakki / poha into a mixer grinder and make a coarse powder like rawa.Wash it once in water and drain it.
- In a bowl, add powdered avalakki / poha, tamarind extract, diluted jaggery water, asafoetida, salt to taste,rasam powder and turmeric powder.Add little water, if required.Mix it well.Keep it covered for 20-30 minutes.
- Take a thick bottom kadai. Heat oil and add mustard seeds .Once it starts spluttering add bengal gram and black gram and all other items mentioned in the seasoning.
- Mix the spiced avallakki mix to the seasoning and mix well. Adjust salt if required.Add grated coconut for garnishing.
